Most common interview questions

1.  Tell me about yourself.
Answer - Give summary of your past education and work, skills, and achievements and include your strong points.

2. Where you see yourself after 5 years? Or what are your Goals?
Answer - Explain about your ambitions and plans but be realistic.

3. What do you know about our organization?
Answer - Do your homework and read about the company history, products, business and recent performance.

4. Why you want to leave your current job?
Answer - Never say anything negative about your current company, team and job. 
Tell something like looking to explore new domain or want to expand my knowledge etc.

5. Why we should hire you? / How you fit into this position.
Answer - Try to map your strong points and skill to the position.


Speak about how flexible and adaptable you are to fit the position.

Getting ready for interview

Interview is a three stage process. Before => Interview => After


A. Before Interview -
1. Most important, ready your Resume/CV. Be confident about what you has mentioned in your CV and don't speak any think which contradict with CV.

2. Dress according to your job profile and company's work culture.

3. Do your homework and read about company's history, business and performance.

4. Make a list of at least five questions to ask.

5. Review your Social media profile, don't post or share anything which can affect your professional life. (You are the best judge)

6. Reach the venue before time and take your time to prepare yourself for interview.
Keep your moral up and enter into the room with confidence and smile.


B. Interview - It usually happens in three stages. Introduction => Discussion => See off
Usually people think Discussion (Technical / Skill Test) is most important part of interview but in modern world Introduction and goodbye is as important as the candidate's skills and knowledge.

Introduction

1. Greet the members in room, shake hand with confidence and sit relax.

2. Use your greeting time to set up right pitch and reflect your confidence and enthusiasm.

3. What is the most common and important question of the interviews?
Answer is tell me about yourself.

Prepare it well, include your strong points, experience and achievements.


Discussion

I will be posting separate articles for individual skills like SQL, SSIS, SSRS, and Crystal Reporting etc.
Please refer to relevant post.

1. Before finishing the interview, interviewer may ask you do you have any questions.
Never say No, ask relevant questions at least two. Example -
What version of SQL Server being used by your organization?
How your company helps employees to grow their knowledge and improve skills?
Where you see your company in next five year?

C. After Interview –

1. Take a note about important questions and analyze them, it will help you for next the interview.

2. Think about what went right and wrong, use it for future preparations.

3. Discuss your experience with others, it will help you to identify your mistakes and strong points. You will get knowledge from others experience too.
